Omaha's Gay Pride Week took place from June 16-June 25, 1989. The theme of Omaha's 1989 Pride was "Stonewall: A Generation of Pride," which marked the 20th anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York City.
The Omaha Gay and Lesbian Pride Parade was at 5 p.m. on June 25th, 1989. The parade route began at 20th and Douglas Street and proceeded west to Turner Park (31st and Farnam Streets). After the parade, a Gay and Lesbian community picnic took place at Turner Park from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
