Celebrations of Pride in Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska date back to the 1970s. Newsletters from local organizations active at the time, such as GAIN, provide information about the Christopher Street Festival in Lincoln in the early 1970s and Pride picnics in Omaha later in the decade. Pride celebrations including parades and festivals became more prominent in the 1980s and more documentation, such as photographs, fliers, video recordings, and other material survives in the archives.
