2001

Omaha's Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Festival was from 12-6 p.m. on June 23, 2001, with the GLBT Pride Parade beginning at 2 p.m. The year's theme was "Pride Rising." The parade route began at 10th and Farnam Street, proceeded west for 12 blocks, then east back through the Old Market to 11th and Farnam, where a street festival took place. 

Speakers included Patrick McNamara, Omaha Hate Crimes Coordinator; Jason Dubs, MPOWER Coordinator (a project of the Nebraska AIDS Project); Sandy Ramsey, Lincoln psychologist; and Brett Johnson, educator and recipient of the Suanne Big Crow Memorial Award from the National Education Association.
